Ore with 42yards and 2TDs in Chick-fila Bowl

Branden Ore ran for 42 yards and 2TDs in Virginia Tech's loss to Georgia (31-24) to finish up the season. He looked healthy, but as the stats show, didn't have many chances to show it.

From Meltdown:
A meltdown like this hasn't been seen out of the Hokies in quite a while. Oh, there have been meltdowns, but usually they start early and snowball throughout the game. You could have gotten long odds on the nation's best defense not being able to protect an 18-point halftime lead, but it happened. Georgia outscored the Hokies 28-3 in the second half, the Bulldogs won 31-24, and Tech's streak without back-to-back bowl wins continues.

Ore Sidelined with Sprained Ankle in 1st Quarter

Branden Ore was injured early in the 1st quarter with a sprained ankle, gaining only 5yds on 1 carry in VA Tech's 27-6 win over Wake Forest.

From Hokies lose Ore to injury in 1st quarter:

Tailback Branden Ore, who has almost single-handedly carried the Hokies' offense most of the season, suffered a sprained left ankle midway in the first quarter and never returned to the game.

Ore was hurt when his left leg appeared to get caught and twisted underneath a Wake tackler on his second carry of the night. The play was wiped out by an illegal-shift penalty on Tech's offense.

After writhing in pain for close to a minute on the ground, Ore was helped off the field. He was seen a few minutes later sitting on the bench on the visitors' sideline with a white towel draped over his head.

Ore, who entered the night leading the ACC in rushing (109 yards per game), never returned to the game. His status for Saturday's regular-season finale against Virginia at Lane Stadium was not immediately known as no X-rays were taken. His status will be determined today by Tech's medical staff.
